Catching up on the blog

Frick its hard keeping up with posting updates while still on the steep part of the boat learning curve!  So what has happened in the last week.  We sailed to Nice, picked up Dean, went on past Monaco, then set out on our first offshore passage to Corsica.  Based on the predicted winds we should have been able to do that in 18 hours, but the wind changed to come from exactly where we wanted to go, and it took us 30 hours instead – and that included motoring for the last 4 hours to get in before dark (didn’t make it – anchored an hour after sunset at Calvi, in northern Corsica).

On the way we tried out the Code D sail again, in Corsica we hoisted the spinnaker for the first time.  Walked around Calvi for a bit and hiked to the citadel.  Changed the outboard motor on the dinghy for the big one – it works great for about 45 seconds, then dies.    Might be fuel, or overheating – can’t see the cooling water coming out.

  1. Good morning sailors, hope you enjoyed Corsica, I gathered you were in and around Calvi. You Tube has great videos of the port areas and the city, took some time to visit thinking I may meet you somewhere for lunch 😉. Looking forward to visit your next destination, lucky sailors, enjoy stay safe!!
